"OPERATION EMBER RISE" |
The new season Operation Ember Rise is adding two new Operators to the Rainbow Six Siege roster. The first operator is a Defender named Goyo, whose Volcán Shields provide deployable cover embedded with a fiery, explosive surprise. The second is an Attacker named Amaru, who can use her Garra Hook to quickly zip up to rooftops, open hatches, exterior windows, and skylights and new Operators are not the only thing changing the gameplay of the Rainbow Six Siege. The Kanal map is receiving a rework which will avoid major spawn peeks and balance both the teams.Watch the new Operators in action in the video below, and keep reading for more details.
Watch the New Trailer:
GOYO, THE DEFENDER:
Goyo comes from Mexico’s FES unit and is a savvy tactician who can rapidly deploy his Volcán Shields to stymie incoming Attackers. The Volcán Shield shares all the attributes of a deployable shield, including a redesigned look and the new snap-to-doorways feature. The Volcán Shield does something other shields can’t. Anytime Goyo, or his teammates, or even the attacking team set off the incendiary core attached to the back of a Volcán Shield with bullet or with their gadgets, there’s a small explosion that sets the surrounding area on fire. The flames will do major damage to anyone, Attacker or Defender, who comes in contact with them."GOYO, THE DEFENDER"
This explosion can be triggered by damaging the core directly or destroying the shield entirely, so Goyo doesn’t necessarily have to be the one to set it off. Goyo is a medium-speed, medium-armor Operator, he can be quite deadly while either roaming with his Vector .45 ACP or hunkering down with the TCSG12 shotgun. If the attacker take scare of Goyo, then also his shields are still a threat. And because shields can now be fitted into doorways, and slit opening in the shield anyone can hold the angle to bait anyone and the Volcán Shield can be especially lethal when paired with a hidden Kapkan trap.
Attackers must keep in mind the shields of Goyo when planning their assault. While Thatcher's EMP grenades and Twitch's drone can not disable the core of the incendiary, and IQ can not detect it, the Volcán Shield still performs a deployable shield's laws. This implies that a fragile grenade, Ash's breaching round, or Zofia's impact grenade can destroy it— and trigger its explosion. It can be set off by anyone with a clear line of sight to the fire center, meaning a badly positioned Volcán Shield can be a large responsibility for the defending team.
The objective with Goyo is to take advantage of the Volcán Shield's strength and deny enemies entry at critical times, or just purchase your team some time early. When the Attackers push or a round ends, trigger your Volcán Shields to keep your opponents away from the target or cover your flank. A timely explosion of the Volcano can imply the distinction between winning and losing.
AMARU, THE ATTACKER:
While Goyo is trying to impede his enemies ' motion, Peruvian Attacker Amaru, thanks to her Garra Hook, can get around the map like no operator before. Her gadget allows her to zip into any rappelable ledge or window to place herself rapidly where Defenders do not expect her to be. And once inside the building, the Garra Hook allows her to move through open hatches and skylights— a first for Rainbow Six Siege. Defenders will have to modify their approach or risk being overshadowed and outmaneuvered.
"AMARU, THE ATTACKER"
The Garra Hook makes it simple to choose your target by demonstrating obviously what (if you were within range) it can or could grapple with. You can't grapple with something too far or too far below your place, but as soon as you enter a window, you can use the hook for horizontal traversal. You can target nothing but open hatches and skylights once inside a construction. While the hook breaks a wooden barricade on a window immediately, a Castle barricade will stop you from even targeting it, and you will need to open a locked door before you can climb through it. If Defenders leave those hatches unreinforced, Amaru's Supernova or ITA12S shotguns will come in useful.
Garra Hook entry is a bit noisy, so it's important to have team communication and good droning to ensure you don't get gunfire when you enter. Amaru doesn't pull her weapon until she gets in and puts two feet on the ground, so she's totally susceptible to Kapkan and Frost traps waiting, not to mention any Defenders who might have heard her coming. Operators who can offer her a fast buff, such as Finka, or use their gadgets to distract Defenders, such as Ying or Dokkaebi, are powerful Amaru pairings, but with medium velocity, medium armor and a G8A1 LMG in her hands, Amaru is a well-rounded and very mobile force to be counted on.
KANAL REWORK:
In Operation Ember Rise, the Kanal map will receive a significant facelift. The map is still divided between two structures, but an extra bridge was added to boost motion possibilities for building-to-building. (Amaru can, of course, use her Garra Hook to move without the bridges between the two structures). There are now fewer windows around objective locations and to make runouts more dangerous, the rooftops have been reconfigured. For more rotation choices and easier callouts, additional staircases and color coding were introduced throughout both structures.
When Operation Ember Rise launches, the reworked Kanal map will be free for all players. The two fresh operators, Goyo and Amaru, will be accessible for holders of Year 4 Pass, and all other players will be able to unlock them with Renown or R6 credits seven days later.
